CoonTICA Cat Show was a huge success for us this year, the refreshment and merchandise stalls managed to take a combined total over the weekend of just over £1,000 which is just about the most we have ever taken at an event and was a brilliant result for us. It was a long weekend made harder by the fact that we had to buy all the water in for the teas and coffees but was well worth the effort, thanks to all those who helped out and in particular, Jacquie and David Lowe and also Nikki Smith for spending their weekends slaving over a hot urn! Sadly, this was the last time that Bletchley Leisure Centre will allow us to make the refreshments so it was good to go out on a high note.
We moved this years Spring Fayre to an earlier time slot of 10.00-12.00 at the Bath House Community Centre in Wolverton. Although this was an enjoyable morning, we still need to work on this event to make it more successful and all ideas in that respect are welcomed.
There was no repeat of the torrential downpour of last year's Stoke Goldington Steam Rally this year, in fact, it was an absolute scorcher! Once again, we were next door to the stall of our friends from Animals in Need, the Wellingborough based animal rescue charity and, once I had our stall fully manned on Sunday afternoon, I must confess to spending most of my afternoon lying under their stall making a fuss of their lovely dog Nicola!
Despite my slacking, the weekend was great fun and a successful fund-raising event for the branch. Thank you so much to all those volunteer's who made the effort to come out in the heat to help out over the weekend particularly Nikki and David, who braved the creepy-crawlies to camp overnight with the stall.
We are slowly getting stalls booked at the forthcoming Summer events and, if anybody has the time to help out at any of these events, or knows about events where we might be able to have a fund-raising stall, do please either contact myself of Barbara, our volunteers' Co-Ordinator on 01908 679763.
